Lakeland League ’22 Round up

Well it’s been a few days and the dust (chalk) has settled on a fantastic event.

Firstly we need to say a massive thank you to everyone that put in the hard work to get the event up and running, all of you that turned up on the day and our sponsors for the event: DMM, Tenzing, Build to Send and Kong Holds. Without all of you the event would not have been the same!

The day kicked off with the Fun Comp and 25 cracking blocs dreamt up by our in house setting team. The morning was filled with big sends, thrills and (luckily not too many) spills in what needed up being a close fought competition for the top spots. Fun Comp  results can be seen here.

The Junior and Vet competitors were first out to give it their all in a round robin final with 45mins to top as many blocks as possible. Again, the scores were close but in the end Kai Main, Grace Coxon, Rachel Somerville, and Tony Little walked away with the win in their respective categories, taking home £200 cash each, goodies from our sponsors and vouchers for free climbing (who could say no to that!). Results list here.

After a quick costume change performed by our wall, 8 new blocs were up and the big guns came out for the senior final.  Our setters did a fantastic job of splitting the field which made for a exciting culmination to the day with the winners  of each category coming down to the  final problem. In end Lilly Kinnersley and Rhys Whitehouse took the win and claimed the top prize of £1000 cash each and some great kit from our sponsors.

The day was not just about our finalists though. The day was also a chance for our climbing community to get together and have a great time. We had some hilarious challenges running including Pad Stacking and speed campusing and raffled off almost £1000 worth of DMM and Built to Send goodies (you can’t say we don’t look after you all).

Hopefully you all enjoyed it as much as we did! We can’t wait to see you all there again next year!
